Freelance work for Atlas Translations

If you want to apply to work with us, click on the link at the bottom of this information, which leads to an online application form. We recommend having your CV handy so you can cut and paste in the relevant sections about qualifications and experience. The form takes 10 or 15 minutes to complete, and you should give as much information as possible. We use our database to search by service, location, software, subject area, and the more information you can provide, the more likely you are to be contacted.

It's really important that you do complete all sections - otherwise your name won't come up when we do a search for a particular translator/supplier working in a particular subject area. When you have finished, remember to press SUBMIT.

Once you have started your application, you can come back to this page and log in as an existing supplier using your email address (the one you registered with, even if this has now changed) and password.

If you have forgotten your password, we can send you a reminder.

You should update us with any new details - any change of rates, address, e-mail address, telephone and fax numbers, additional services/subject areas and new software/hardware, as well as holiday periods or times when you are not available for work.

Note that you should update your own record rather than contact individual Atlas staff.

Drop us a line when you have filled all this in and submitted it, and we will check everything is there and let you know if anything is missing.

We hope that we'll work together in the future. Contact us if you need more information or if you need help with the application.

Please do NOT fill in this form more than once or we receive duplicate applications and deal with each one as a new application. Do not complete this form if you are looking for in-house work.

Please read these notes before you apply. Applications which are incomplete will be rejected. We receive a high volume of applications; following the correct procedure will save everyone time.

  • We welcome applications from professional, qualified suppliers. You must have professional qualifications/experience in your field. For instance, for translation, we can only use people with 5 years of experience and/or who have a postgraduate qualification such as a master's degree or degree specifically in translation, an Institute of Linguists diploma, or equivalent. Being bilingual is not enough.
  • You must have the level of experience we require from our suppliers. In exceptional circumstances, evidence of wide and up-to-date experience may cancel out the need for professional qualifications.
  • You need all necessary equipment, such as pc, internet, e-mail, and up to date software.
  • Please note that we accept applications and CVs submitted in English only.
  • Do not apply to staff members - all applications are handled online.
  • We require e-mail contact details of three professional referees. These should not be members of your family, personal friends, teachers or work colleagues (unless you can demonstrate that you have worked directly for a colleague). They must be professional contacts for whom you have completed work in the area of your application. We will contact all three referees by e-mail, so make sure that they are prepared to provide a written reference for you. If your referees do not respond, your application will not progress.
  • We recommend you include rates in UK sterling (£).
  • You may upload your CV in Word or PDF in the CV section.

Payment   We always confirm rates on the purchase order. PAYMENT TERMS : we pay invoices at the end of the month following the month of the invoice. If you provide us with your bank details we will be able to process your payment faster. We also pay using Paypal and Moneybookers. You should be aware that you are not an employee of Atlas, and as such you are responsible for your own tax declarations, VAT and national insurance.

Updates It helps if you can update us with details of:

  • new equipment
  • dates when you are not available (such as holidays)
  • the type of work you have been doing - do you have a new specialism? We can then bear you in mind for that kind of work.

We look forward to a long-lasting working relationship with you.
