Information
on Working for Atlas Translations Ltd. Please read these notes before you apply
to join our database. Applications which are incomplete in any way will be
rejected.
You should
only complete this form to apply for freelance work. Do not complete this form
for in-house applications or work experience enquiries.
We welcome
applications from professional, qualified suppliers. Please note that we can
only accept applications and CVs submitted in English.
Your application
will only be considered if:
- You have the professional
qualifications/experience in your field. For instance, for translation, we can
only use people with many years of experience and/or who have a postgraduate
qualification such as a master's degree or degree specifically in translation,
an Institute of Linguists diploma, or equivalent. Being bilingual is not
enough.
- You have the level of
experience we require from our suppliers. In exceptional circumstances,
evidence of wide and up-to-date experience may cancel out the need for
professional qualifications.
- You have the necessary
equipment, e.g. computer, fax, e-mail, etc.
Filling
in our registration form online
If you have
the relevant qualifications and experience, please do fill in our application
form which is available on line at www.atlasapplications.co.uk. Please read
these notes first. We receive a huge volume of applications every day; following
the correct procedure could save you and us time.
- You should not apply to
individual staff members - all applications are handled via this
application form. Other e-mail applications will be discarded.
- You must complete all sections
of the form. Incomplete forms will be rejected.
- You must provide e-mail contact
details of three professional referees. These should not be members of
your family, personal friends, teachers or work colleagues (unless you can
demonstrate that you have worked directly for a colleague). They must be
professional contacts for whom you have completed paid work in the area of
your application. We will contact all three referees by e-mail, so make sure
that they are prepared to provide a written reference for you. If your
referees do not respond, your application will not be processed.
- You must include your rates in
UK sterling (£) per 1000 words. If you are unsure of the current exchange
rate, you can follow the link on the form to the currency converter at www.xe.net/ucc.
- Allow approximately 10 minutes
to complete the form. You can start and come back later if you wish. You will
need to have your CV handy to download.
Code
of conduct for suppliers
Please read
carefully and retain for future reference. These conditions apply to all work
from Atlas Translations.
Professional
standards and competence
Suppliers
should only accept work that they know to be within their professional and
operational competence. Please treat all work as confidential.
Purchase
order
You should
not commence any work without a purchase order.
The purchase
order sets out the terms for each job, and provides a job number. There may be
special instructions on the purchase order, so please read each one carefully.
Queries
If you have
a query on any piece of work, please contact the project manager who gave the
work to you. If you have any problems, you should tell your project manager when
they arise. Their name will be marked on your purchase order.
Payment
We always
confirm rates on the purchase order. PAYMENT
TERMS : we pay invoices at the end of the month following the month
of the invoice. All payments are made in UK sterling unless specifically agreed
in writing. If you provide us with your bank details we will be able to process
your payment faster. Remember to tell us if your UK bank details change so that
we can update our records. If you have an invoice query you should, in the first
instance, contact the office by e-mail. We will usually respond within 24 hours.
You should be aware that you are not an employee of Atlas, and as such you are
responsible for your own tax declarations, VAT and national insurance.
Records
You are legally
required to keep electronic backup copies of all work completed for Atlas
for a period of six years.
Updates
It helps if
you can update us with details of:
- new equipment
- dates when you are not
available (such as holidays)
- the type of work you have been
doing - do you have a new specialism? We can then bear you in mind for that
kind of work.
We look
forward to a long-lasting working relationship with
you.
